Family therapy focuses on improving communication, solving family problems, understanding and handling special family situations, and creating a better functioning home environment. In our sessions together, I help create a safe, non-judgmental space where families have the opportunity to learn new ways of communication with one another, listen in a more constructive way, learn from one another and mutually agree on decisions.  I work collaboratively to help family members get to the root of the problems and create goals and an action plan.

Here are just a few of the issues commonly addressed in family therapy:

  • Difficulty communicating or expressing emotions
  • Conflicts between siblings
  • Inconsistent parenting
  • Marital problems
  • Developing a functional and healthy relationship following a divorce
  • Adapting to a major change
  • Dealing with a chronic illness or death in the family
